What is HairBall^®?

An avante garde Hair – Fashion – "Performance Art" Show and Benefit put on by local salons.

The skits the salons perform are crazy, mixed up and goofy (usually) and very similar to the first couple of weeks of "America’s Got Talent!"

You never know what to expect regarding the talent, hair, costumes or "skit" to appear.

You will see exquisitely beautiful and amazingly exciting fusions of hair and make up, design, choreography and style. OR sometimes, a complete lack thereof - which makes the show fun.

HairBall^® show is a fashion entertainment event that allows Professional salons and Cosmetology schools to do "performance art" in a theater venue and benefits J.D.R.F.

There are awards for;
BIGGEST HAIR, COOLEST HAIR, BIGGEST WIGS, SEXIEST HAIR & MAKE-UP, MOST COMICAL "SKIT", MOST EXOTIC HAIR & MAKE-UP, WILDEST HAIR & MAKE-UP, OVER-ALL BEST HAIR & MAKE-UP, BEST HAIR & MAKE-UP, AUDIENCE FAVORITE, BEST HAIR, BEST MAKE-UP, WILDEST SKIT, etc.

Fort Myers Beach, Florida - May 4^th 2008
A very unusual show where it went back to the "roots" of a small event staged for fun! Literally hundreds of beach goers where "entertained with hair, make-up, fashion, music, energy & artistic performance.

Royal Oak, Michigan - October 12^th 2008
Another entertaining evening with a PACKED HOUSE at the HAIR BALL™ Show.
Awards were presented for;
"BEST HAIR", "BEST MAKE-UP", "MOST ORIGINAL", "BEST PRESENTATION", "MOST COMICAL SKIT", "BEST CHOREOGRAPHY", "BIGGEST HAIR", "BIGGEST WIGS", "SEXIEST PERFORMANCE", "OVERALL BEST PERFORMANCE", and "JUDGES CHOICE"

HAIRBALL^® 2007 - had a capacity audience - a SOLD OUT theater! It was also an educational event with - Damiano and Teri Guardino - conducting a cut and color show during the day, prior to the HAIR BALL^™ entertainment. With 372 models on stage, through the evening, this show was truly THE REAL BIG HAIR BALL^® Show!

Though there has been some controversy - and there always will be some - regarding a "skit" performed, each salon, and performance artist or clothing designer produces their own "skit" within the show.
HAIR BALL™ is an opportunity for entertainment, education, fashion, hair, performers and for charity - Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation.
Please attend with an enthusiastic 'open mind' for self-expression!

The HAIRBALL^® 2006 show had an attendance of 1,700 - the capacity for the venue!!!

In 2005 the HAIRBALL^® show had an attendance of over 1,600+ without a beauty manufacturer or beauty supplier sponsor.

Over 1,500 were in attendance in October, 2004 and in October 2003 at the Royal Oak Music Theater.

Over 1,500 hairdressers attended Beauté Craft's "HAIR BALL" at their annual convention in October of 2002.

More than 1,200 people attended each of the events in April 2002 at the Emerald Theater, and in October 2001 at the Royal Oak Music Theater.

Prior to that, the event was at Boogie Fever in Ferndale, MI. with 700+ in attendance.

The event has also been held - in past years at the State Theater (over 2,000 attendees), Majestic Theater and Clutch Cargos to name a few in Detroit, as well as other suburban locations over the past 19 years!

This event has seen many a venue within Metro Detroit - with one or two events every year since its inception in 1986!

Currently, there is a movie being produced based on the REAL BIG HAIR BALL^® show! "It's a "HAIRBALL" type of life for the star, Heroine". Starting out with Heroine's cat hurling a HairBall - her twisted fate or kismet forms another kind of HairBall in her life. The movie "HAIRBALL^® Show" blends a myriad of young and beautiful girls into a matted HairBall of circumstances.
